Hey, Iām Tobyā¦Iāve had a love for photography ever since I was able to pick up a camera of some form or anotherā¦decided to study it in later life while focusing on Fashion/Editorial but took a break for many yearsā¦now focusing on Portraiture, People and the lives they leadā¦
Hi, Iām Dom. I think Iāve always been interested in people watching and I think this more moment driven photography allowed to capture the little things that made me smile, so been trying to capture it with more intent for the last couple years. Recently got a Leica M6 with a 28mm still getting used to it. Big change from film cameras Iāve used that had automated settings. Can see my photos on IG @dominicmclaren.
Favourite photographer is forever Saul Leiter, not that I shoot anything like him but his work showed me there was more than portraits and landscapes in photographer then opened me up to people like Webb, Winogrand, Levitt and Meyerowitz.
and yeah come across you guys through IG guessing like most.
Hey itās MichaÅ here, some of you know me as polonez.I like spending time with my camera and I always liked photography. As a teenage boy I had cheap film camera, but I never developed single photo from that time because I simply didnāt have the money. My passion stayed alive and many years later I was throwing myself in front of the photographer and the bride and groom at my brotherās wedding with my shitty Casio camera. Not very subtle I know, but that tells you how much l like photography which predates pre-instagram. I like meeting other photographers and exchange ideas and spend time taking photos. You can find me in Instagram @polonez_
I had Sony nex 7 with adapted lenses and Sony a57 but few years ago and changed to Fuji xt3 and I hope this camera will last me forever as I still donāt understand much about photography and how to use my camera well.
My favourite photographer is Billy Dee for his ability to capture such well timed and composed moments mixed with his stunning cinematic edits. Chefās kiss.
Hi all!
I am Sara, and I hate to introduce myself XD
My IG is https://www.instagram.com/apesara
I am from Italy, when I lived there I did sports photography, military photos and some street photography but not too muchā¦
Since I moved here, almost 7yrs ago, I dedicated myself to the street photography mainly. Real estate just for money when it happened.
I shot with a Sony A7riii with Canon Lenses, I came from 5dII and I am still processing the change of brand.
iām Inty, based in Livingston. Photography has always interested me but I only got seriously into it after my trip to New York in the summer of 2023. I had an old Nikon D3300 but I could not use it properly. I came back disappointed on not being able to take good photos.
Since then I upgraded my kit and developed a passion for photography. I use Canon R6 II, Canon RP paired with 28mm, 35mm or the 24-105mm Zoom.
Hi everyone Iām Kev, been doing photography for a while now probably since Instagram first launched in 2010 and I fell in love with daily snapshots of life and those wonderful (at the time) filters. I would love to go back to the original Instagram before it was taken over by ācontent creatorsā (hate that term so much). Anyway got into street and more so night street photography a few years ago with more emphasis on abstract.
Can find me here
Donāt get out anywhere near as much as I would like due to family commitments but looking forward to seeing where this community goes
Hi Iām Howard, Iāve been shooting street photography since 2016.
What got you into photography?
In a previous life I worked as a digital marketer at the university of Edinburgh. We needed some real estate photos for our student accommodation and commercial venues and as the ānerdā I was roped in. Really enjoyed that and I still love architectural photography.
A birthday present of an Edinburgh DSLR photo walk/class got me chatting to the guy running it about street photography and fuji cameras. Went home, bought an XT2 from mpb with a 23mm f2 and thatās been it from there really.
Before he swallowed the red pill I read a
Lot of the blogs and info from Eric Kim and thatās what got my head thinking in a more street orientated way. His street photography handbook is still free on his website and I really recommend it.
What gear do you shoot with?
I moved away from Fuji to a Sony A7CR with the āsigmacronā range of primes.
I also shoot with a Ricoh GR3x
Where can you see your work? Your website / social media?
Iāve been challenged by a mentor at the Raw society to shoot black and white for the whole year. I wanted to learn something new, strip back my photography and see things in a different way as I was getting a bit bored. so youāll be seeing a lot of that.
Your favourite photographers?
Fan Ho, Bresson, Robert Capa, Robert Frank, Alex Webb, Alec Sloth, Elliott Erwin, Steve Mcurry (although maybe a bit cringe sometimes), Todd Hido, Maria Svarbova, Martin Parr and Daido Moriyama.
Instas I follow as well as the above are:
@jtaggstudios (shoots Ricoh gr professionally for New York Times, Wall Street journal, Washington Post and his photos are such great documentary)
@dirtyharry really gritty well composed shots
@nilsjorgensen_ heās a press photographer that does street on the side. Heās a really clever and observant photographer and his photos often make me laugh. Love the way he sees the world.
Asides from all the usual suspects like Alan schaller, 13th second, Josh k Jackson, spicy meatball etc etc
Howād you find us?
Through one of the photo walks advertised on Instagram
Hi. Jimbo here, Iāve been a Creative Director, Art Director, Graphic Designer and Typographer for over 50 years. Old fucker. In my past I worked with the best London photographers from Bailey to Claridge and many many more. On shoots with guys like them, you watch, and you watch and you learn. I retired about a year ago and now try and bring some of that learning into my photos. Whether you shoot on a Leica, an iPhone or any other capture machine it is all about being there and framing quickly to get the best results. But hey, weāre all waiting for the moment. When that moment arrives, be ready. Luck plays a big part, and it isnāt always the pin-sharp that are winners. Take a look at tracing_silence on Instagram itās wonderful, fresh and I wish Iād done it. Find your own style and it will serve you well. Keep shootingā You can say hello on Instagram under www.instagram.com/jimbodownie/)
Hello, everyone. I only spend part of the year in Edinburgh as I now live in France, but am there at least all summer long. I started photography about ten years ago and shoot with an Olympus OMD-EMI or a Leica Q2, and of course my iPhone 12. For color, I love Harry Gruyaert and Alex and Rebecca Webb. For BNW, I go for the old masters: Sabine Weiss, Helen Leavitt, Cartier-Bresson, Koudelka etc. You can find me (for the time being) on IG under @kmazzster and @kmazzster_color. I found you on the wonderful Edinburgh Minute. Looking forward to photo walk on my return to Edinburgh.
Iām Chris, I moved to Edinburgh almost two years ago. Iāve been a casual photography enthusiast for years, shooting mostly on my Sony a7iii and my Fuji x100v, though I spend a decent amount of time trying to get better photos out of my iPhone (mostly with Halide).
Iām trying to get over the anxiety of sharing my photos, though I very occasionally post to my totally unpromoted Instagram @christophers.viewfinder. Iād love to publish a zine of my photos in the future, after Iāve started to build up a handful of collections.
Iām looking forward to joining you all on the next photowalk
Hi all,
Iām Ana. I think I always loved photography but I remember a time when I was younger my family didnāt support my interest and like that life went on and I forgot about it. Many years after when Covid hit I saw a photo that resuscitated that curiosity and realised that I never actually got to explore photography. Bought an online photography course, a Canon 90D and a few lenses (24-105mm & 50mm), started to explore the groups and opportunities around Edinburgh this is how I found Street Social Photography by Olly. Iām still experimenting and discovering what I like to photograph.
Thank you
Hello There,
Iām @edinburghcollaborator on the instagram and on Vero
I started out with a 110 camera, moved onto a VoigtlƤnder Vito C, Canon A1.
Iāve had a few cameras over the years but still have a Vito C, 3x Canon A1, a Mamiya C330. I have a few cameras kicking around but everyday carry is an X100s and the other two in regular use are my XE3 and XE4 with a prime on each.
My father started my interest and is where one of the Canon A1 came from, I have the warranty card (Mconomy Edinburgh, just off McDonald Road) 06.11.1982
He used to set up a darkroom in the kitchen during the winter months and I think this was thing that caught my imagination, seeing the negatives and making prints.
I still occasionally shoot film but use A&M in Bonnington to process and scan.
I shoot using fujifilm cameras with ārecipesā in camera so spend as little time behind a computer. But as a friend used to say when asked what camera she used, she said āa black oneā
I enjoy shooting portraits but find street very therapeutic
Happy to shoot with other people but prefer to be in my own space and time
